Average domestic air fares have steadily increased over time from $297 in 1995 Q1 to a high of $402 in 2014 Q2. Since then, average domestic air fares decreased and stabilized around $350 until the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 Q1. During the pandemic, average domestic air fares dropped to a low of $245 in 2020 Q3 and recovered to above pre-pandemic levels in 2022 Q2 with an average of $397.
